Rugby Journal shortlisted for four BSME Awards

Rugby Journal has been shortlisted in four categories of the prestigious BSME Awards, due to be announced in February 2021

The quarterly rugby title is in the running for Editor of the Year, Sport; Editor of the Year, Independent; Art Director of the Year, Consumer and Cover of the Year Consumer, for its ‘Mud Only’ cover from issue eight.

Across four hugely competitive categories, Rugby Journal features alongside the likes of Women’s Health, The Cricketer and Runner’s World (Sport); Eye, Dezeen, Saga and Slimming World (Independent); Empire, Elle and The Sunday Times Magazine (Art Director); and New Statesman, Stylist and Cosmopolitan (Cover).

“It’s a huge achievement for our small, but dedicated team and really well deserved,” says Jane Ditcham, business director, at eric, the journal’s publisher. “Both Alex [Mead, the editor-in-chief] and Simon [Campbell, creative director] are incredibly passionate about Rugby Journal, going above and beyond to produce a beautiful title that not only looks amazing, but also tells so many wonderful stories.”

“The BSME Awards are the ones that every editor wants to win and we would have been very happy with a single nomination, so to get four for one title, is fantastic,” says Mead. Campbell added: “As an art director, it’s also the most prestigious award you can win, just to be featured along the names on the list is quite the accolade.”
