Rugby’s editor Alex Mead has been shortlisted among some of the biggest names in sports journalism for Sports Feature Writer of the Year category.

The annual Sports Journalism Awards are the biggest event on the sports writers’ calendar and this year received a record number of awards across its writing and photography categories.

Rugby’s Editor-in-Chief Alex Mead has been shortlisted in The Sports Feature Writer of the Year category, where he’s joined by award-winning author Donald McRae, The Daily and Sunday Telegraph’s Chief Sports Reporter Jeremy Wilson, renowned football writer Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Independent, The Daily Mail’s F1 correspondent Jon McEvoy and the Daily Express’ rugby writer Neil Squires.

“It’s incredible to be in such company,” said Alex. “These are huge names in sports writing and Donald McRae is a legend of this world, so it’s an absolute privilege to even be on this shortlist.”

The award is announced on Monday 25th February. To read some of Alex’s work, the best way is to order a copy of the latest Rugby journal – Six Nations Storytellers.
